NAVC U14 Griffins Coaching Staff

Head Coach - Rhonda Smith

This is Rhonda's 5th year coaching with NAVC. She has 20+ years playing experience with 2 of those years at Concordia College. In her early years she played club ball with NAVC from U13-U18. Rhonda has coached Jr High boys for St. Mark and St Kevin, 2 years assistant coaching at Ross Sheppard High School with the Sr girls team and 1 year assistant coach at M.E. Lazerte High School with the Sr boys team.

Associate Coach - Shandelle Meyer

Shandelle Meyer graduated from Memorial Composite High School where she competed for all three years on the senior team, winning volleyball athlete of the year, and leading as team captain for grade 12. Shandelle was nominated and selected for the Big Kahuna All-Star Game and playing libero lead her team to win the showcase. She played club with the Parkland Raven’s for 4 years. Then later joined NAVC for U17, placing 4th in the province, and U18, placing 3rd in the province. Shandelle went on to play in the ACAC for the Concordia Thunder and is currently in her 3rd year of eligibility, playing leftside. Shandelle is working towards her Bachelor of Arts, with pursuit of entering an Education After Degree and later hopes to pursue a teaching career.

Assistant Coach - Elvisa Omerovic

Elvisa has been with NAVC for the past three years as an assistant with the U14, U15 & U18 Pandas gold teams. She is currently a teacher at M.E. Lazerte School and coaching with their school teams.  Elvisa was also the head coach for the past two years for the Ross Sheppard Senior Women's Team as well as various summer camps including SLVC and U of A summer camps.  Elvisa is excited to bring all that she has to offer with the U14 team this year and help develop these young athletes.  Elvisa has completed her level one certification and working towards her level two.

Assistant Coach - Victoria Johnstone

Victoria Johnstone is a graduate of Holy Trinity High School were she played on the senior team all 3 years of her high school career. In that span she placed 2nd at the 3A ASAA provincial championships her freshman year, taking first place in her grade 11 year and placing 4th in her final year. Victoria was then selected for the Big Kahuna All-Star Game where she was playing middle. Prior to the successes of high school, she played for the F.O.G Hawks in U13-U14, played on NAVC Gold during her U15 year, and was on Panda Elite her U16 year. This was followed by NAVC for her last 2 years. During this time she took home a pair of bronze medals, another pair of gold medals and a 4th place finish all at provincials. She was also selected to play on the U16 team Alberta white team as a power, where she finished first at the Western Elite Championships. Victoria went on to play in the ACAC for the NAIT Ooks, back at the middle position. She is currently in her 3rd year of eligibility. Victoria is also working hard off the court, studying for her Engineering Design and Drafting Technology Diploma.
