NAVC Griffins 15W Maroon Coaching Staff

Head Coach - Aimee Schubert

With parents who played volleyball at the University of Alberta, Aimee has been immersed in the world of volleyball her entire life. Growing up she played at various clubs throughout the Edmonton area including FOG, Griffins, and NAVC. In High School, after helping the Harry Ainlay Titans to a City and Provincial Championship in 2009 and a City Bronze in 2010, Aimee was recruited as a setter to play NCAA Division One Volleyball at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. After two season with the Raiders, Aimee transferred to Towson University in Baltimore, Maryland where she played an additional three years of NCAA Division One Volleyball.

As one of the Captains of the Towson Tigers, Aimee helped her team to a Second Place Conference finish in 2014 and a Conference Championship in 2015. She also led the team in assists which helped earn her team a Top 5 National Ranking in Team Kills and Team Assists in 2015. Individually, Aimee earned herself a spot on the CAA All-Academic Team in 2014 and again in 2015. She also won the Female Strength and Conditioning Award at Towson University in 2016.

During her time in Maryland, Aimee coached at the Maryland Volleyball Academy and the Towson Volleyball Academy. She has since graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Electronic Media and Film in 2016 and has moved back to Edmonton where she is currently the Assistant Coach of the Junior Women’s Volleyball Team at Harry Ainlay. Having been given so many incredible opportunities because of volleyball Aimee hopes to inspire and help up-and-coming athletes achieve their own unforgettable experiences through the sport.

Assistant Coach - Kylie Schubert

Similar to her big sister Aimee, Kylie has grown up surrounded by the sport of volleyball. She has played six years of club, four of those with the Pandas. In high school, she played for Harry Ainlay helping them to a 2nd place finish at the 2014 provincial championships. Additionally, Kylie competed with Team Alberta in 2013. Off the court, Kylie maintained an honours average throughout high school.  After a year with the Regina Cougars, Kylie is now in her first year with the Macewan Griffins volleyball team as a setter, working towards a Bachelor of Science degree.

Teamwork, determination and integrity are extremely important values to Kylie. With many years dealing with setbacks and injury, Kylie has experienced first hand what it takes to overcome these obstacles and to never give up on your goals. She knows the importance of the different roles of a team and how these roles can not only shape you into a great player, but a great person as well. She is looking forward to working with the athletes to share her passion, help them achieve their goals and make some unforgettable memories.
