NAVC Griffins 13W Coaching Staff

Miles has been a part of the NAVC club for 5 years as an assistant coach. He currently is coaching at S Bruce Smith Jr High.  Miles started coaching a very long time ago (1983) and coached at the High School level, club level and assisted at the provincial team level.  He has 5 years of ACAC experience, coaching 2 years at NAIT and 3 years at RDC.

Lynne has been teaching for 26 years, the past 8 years of which have been at S. Bruce Smith Jr. High School.  She has assisted with the volleyball program for both Jr. and Sr. girls, off and on, throughout her time at SBS.  Both Lynne's children played all of their club volleyball with NAVC beginning with her son from 2009-2013 and her daughter from 2010-2015.   Lynne wanted to give back to the club by helping to develop a love of the sport that was such a great experience for her kids.  Lynne is currently working toward finishing her level one coaching certification and is excited for the season ahead with the 13W Griffins. 

Madison played club volleyball for 6 years: FOG (U13), NAVC (U14,U15, U16), and Pandas (U17 and U18).  She also played 3 years post-secondary (Two years ACAC and one year CIS with MacEwan University Griffins).  During her player career, Madison played in every position giving her great versatility.  Madison received several awards including the TVT MVP 2011 and Harry Ainlay Female athlete of the year 2012, was a Team Alberta 2010 Western Canada Gold medalist,  U18 AVA provincial gold medalist as well ACAC provincial bronze medalist.  She has also coached various camps and teams throughout Alberta for the past 6 years including most recently one of the head coaches for the NAVC 13U Griffins.

This is Maddison’s first year to be coaching with the NAVC Griffins. Maddison has been involved in a variety of volleyball experiences through being a player, coach and a volleyball official.  She grew up in the town of Brooks where she played with the Elite and Prairie Power volleyball clubs, as well as the Brooks Composite High School team.  In 2009 they won 3A Provincials and in 2010 they received silver. After highschool, Maddison moved to Edmonton to enroll in the Bachelor of Education program at the University of Alberta.  Upon graduation, Maddy’s first year of teaching included coaching a wide variety of sports, but her main focus of volleyball found success as she coached the S. Bruce Smith senior boys team to a victorious city championship. Overall, she is very much looking forward to working with and developing strong athletes, as well as improving her abilities and skills as a coach.
