NAVC Griffins 14W Coaching Staff

Head Coach - Richard Lobb

After taking a year off from everything to gallivant around the world, Richard returns, excited to get back to coaching.  He has been with NAVC for over a decade and has coached every age group picking up a Canada West Tier 1, Div 1 bronze, a provincial championship and two provincial silvers along the way.  Richard has also been on the Team Alberta U16 Girls coaching staff four times, collecting a complete set of medals at the Western Elite competition.  In addition, he spent time in the ACAC with the NAIT Women, assisting with them during the 2013 season.

Associate Coach - Leah Koot

This is Leah’s first season coaching with NAVC. Leah played 5 years of club volleyball and was part of Team Alberta in her U16 year.  After high school Leah went on to play two years of post-secondary volleyball for the Red Deer College Queens. During those two years Leah helped the team win back to back ACAC provincial championships and CCAA national championships. It was at the 2014-2015 national championship tournament that Leah received the most valuable player award.

Leah is currently attending the University of Alberta where she is completing her Bachelor of Kinesiology degree. Following her undergrad she hopes to get into a graduate study in rehabilitation medicine.

Assistant Coach - Kelsey Tymkow

Kelsey grew up playing club volleyball NAVC (U13-U17) and finished with the Pandas Club (U18). In her final year of high school, Kelsey won Edmonton Journal Athlete of the year in 2012 as well as the Ross Sheppard Vicky Wong memorial award and the Ross Sheppard female athlete of the year. She then went on to play four years of post-secondary volleyball. Two years with the NAIT Ooks, which in her first year she helped them earn their first ever provincial ACAC championship. Her final two years were with the Red Deer College Queens where in her first year she won an ACAC provincial championship and CCAA national championship. Her last year she shared team captainship of the Red Deer College Queens and also won ACAC athlete of the week as well as CCAA athlete of the week. She still plays volleyball at the recreational level.        

During her two years at Red Deer College she was assistant coach to the Central Alberta Queens Volleyball Club program (U15 and U18). On top of that Kelsey also spends many hours assistant coaching at Aspire Volleyball. For the 2016 season Kelsey is currently assistant coaching the Millwood’s Christian senior girls Junior High team. Kelsey is currently attending school at the University of Alberta pursuing her Bachelor of Kinesiology degree. Following her degree, she hopes to pursue a career in rehabilitation medicine. Kelsey is a young and upcoming coach excited to share her volleyball knowledge with as many athletes as she can. She is passionate and excited about this upcoming club season

Assistant Coach - Kendra Sorenson

Kendra graduated from Notre Dame high school in Red Deer as Female athlete of the year.  She played 6 years of club volleyball with the Red Deer Queens and went on to play two more years with the Queens at the post-secondary level.  During her time at Red Deer College, Kendra won back to back ACAC provincial championships and CCAA national championships (2014, 2015). This will mark her third year of coaching as she has previously coached in the Queens club at the U13 and U15 level.  Kendra is very excited to be apart of the NAVC team this year, and can’t wait to share her love of volleyball.  Currently Kendra is taking a General Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Alberta, and hopes to further her education in graduate studies of rehabilitation medicine.
