NAVC Griffins 15W Coaching Staff

Head Coach - Keith Wills

The 2017 Season will see Keith return to the NAVC coaching staff after a one year hiatus which during that time Keith guided the Edmonton Christian Lions Sr. Women’s Team to the 2015-16 2A Provincial Championship Title. Wills will return to lead the Lions once again in the 2016-17 Season.

Keith brings a wealth of experience to the club at every level. Keith joined NAVC after a successful stint with Ontario Volleyball where he served as an Athlete Development Chair and played an integral role in the implementation of the LTAD platform within Ontario Volleyball. As Head coach of Ontario Volleyball Regional Teams, Keith experienced considerable success winning Gold Medals at the 2006 & 2008 Ontario Summer Games and Silver at the 2007 Ontario Regional Games, and was awarded the 2007 Ontario Volleyball Coach’s Recognition Award. In the summer of 2009 Wills helped guide Team Ontario U17 to a 4th place finish at the 2009 National Team Challenge Cup. Keith is a graduate from the University of Alberta, with a Physical Education degree specializing in Sport Performance as well as an NCCP Level III coach, and an NCCP Level 1 Course Conductor.

In the past 7 years Coach Wills’ teams have consistently been ranked in the top 5 in Canada in their respective age category. In 2014 and 15 club seasons Keith guided U16 and U17 NAVC teams to two of the best NAVC seasons ever as the team finished as the top team in Western Canada both years, placing athletes on the All-Star team both seasons. During the 2014 season he represented Alberta at the 2014 Western Canada U16 Elite Volleyball championships with Team Alberta White as an Assistant Coach.

Assistant Coach - Elvisa Omerovic

Elvisa has been with NAVC for the past four years as an assistant with the U14, U15 & U18 Pandas gold teams as well as the U14 Griffins two years ago. She is currently a teacher at M.E. Lazerte School and coaching with their school teams.  Elvisa was also a head coach for two years for the Ross Sheppard Senior Women's Team as well as various summer camps including SLVC and U of A summer camps.  Elvisa is excited to step back into a coaching role this year and bring all that she has to offer to the U15 team and help develop these young athletes.  Elvisa has completed her level two certification.

Assistant Coach - Mallory Turner

This is Mallory’s sixth year as an assistant coach with NAVC. Mallory is a former NAVC player and competed in each age category from U13 to U18. She played high school volleyball for McNally and Jasper Place. Mallory went on to play ACAC volleyball at Kings University College, and played two seasons there. Mallory is currently studying nursing at Grant Macewan University and is representing them in the sport of rowing. In rowing, she has represented Team Alberta at the Western Canada Summer Games in 2011 and the Canada Summer Games in 2013.

Assistant Coach - Layne Quickstad

This is Layne’s first year coaching for NAVC. Layne played for NAVC for four club seasons and played high school volleyball for Vegreville Composite High School. Layne has represented Team Alberta at the NTCC’s in 2013. She moved on to ACAC volleyball at Lakeland College where she played 1 season. Layne is currently finishing her Business Administration Diploma at Lakeland College and is transferring to NAIT this January to complete her Business Degree.
