Chris Buffi A·Head Coach U16 Gold Pandas · 2014-2015

Bio This will be Chris's 5th year of coaching and 4th with NAVC. Chris started out his coaching career with Sherwood Park U16 girls as an assistant coach. Where they went on to finish 4th in provincials and 10th in Nationals. The following year, most of that team moved over to NAVC for the U17 year. During that year, they stayed in top 4 in all premiere tournaments finishing third in one of them and eventually finishing 4th in Provincials and 11th in Nationals. During the U18 season, Chris's team again finished in the top 4 during the premiere tournaments, finishing 3rd in Provincials and then 13 in Nationals. The next logical step took Chris into the head coach position for the NAVC U18 Gold Pandas so he could his past years of coaching and playing experience. Through out the 2013 – 2014 season, the team started out very strong finishing 2nd in the first Premier and staying in the top 4 the entire season. They finished 5th in Provincials and had a strong showing in Nationals finishing 9th. Even though it was a 9th place finish, they were second highest finishing Alberta team out of 96 U18 womens teams. Through out his coaching years, Chris has always strived for the best in his teams. He believes in incorporating the LTAD into his coaching philosophy as well as transferring it into his practices and teams. Chris is currently a physical education teacher at Strathcona high school in Edmonton where he has coached the junior boy’s team for the past two years. As a Physical education teacher being active is a major priority in his life. This stemmed from his years at the University of Alberta as part of the Track and Field team. It also allowed him to learn many ways to stay physical fit and to train to become the best athlete as possible. He passes this knowledge onto all of his teams that he has coached over the years. Volleyball is a passion that has stayed with Chris since he began playing it in junior high and still to this day in men’s league. Chris is looking forward to this year and a new beginning with the NAVC U16 Gold Pandas.
