Katie grew up in Lacombe and played volleyball for LCHS as well as various clubs in the region. In college she played for the Medicine Hat College Rattlers for two years and then with the Grande Prairie Regional College Wolves for two years. While playing for  Grande Prairie she was named Rookie of the Year and won a Bronze Medal at ACAC Provincials for both years. 
Katie has been helping coach various teams since high school and continued that with the Grande Prairie Wolves Club Program after she was done playing. She coached the U18 Men's Wolves teams to Provincial Bronze Medals in 2013 and 2014. Katie was also an Assistant Coach with the Grande Prairie Regional College Wolves Women's team in the 2013/2014 season where they took home both a Provincial and National Silver Medal. Currently she is an Assistant Coach with Grant MacEwan University Men's team.
