Few athletes have had the kind of consistent, well-rounded, and high-impact career that Silas Schalk has had at the 18U level. A standout setter and co-captain for NAVC's 18U men's team, Silas has built a reputation as one of Canada's top setting prospects, known for his volleyball intelligence, leadership, and game-changing versatility.
This past season, Silas helped lead NAVC to a Division 1 Provincial Championship, earning his second consecutive Provincial All-Star selection in the process. Operating in a 6-2 system, he not only led the team in assists, but also recorded a .340 hitting percentage and ranked second on the team in blocks. His offensive instincts, combined with elite court vision and tactical execution, made him a central figure in every game - especially during high-pressure moments.
Silas spent the past two years training in Volleyball Canada's National Excellence Program (NEP) in Gatineau, earning national recognition for his skill and leadership. His commitment to growth, both technical and personal, has made him a player that others want to follow, and one that every coach wants on their team.
Silas's impact stretches far beyond the court. He is a vocal, respected leader whose teammates selected him as captain multiple years in a row - a reflection of his character, selflessness, and integrity. He uplifts those around him, leads by example, and helps foster a culture of accountability and mutual respect.
